Pee Wee Football
Pee Wee football is often a youngsters first involvement
with organized football. Even at this time the early
buddings of athletic prowess may be visible in these
kiddie bopers.
Often, as these kiddies run down the field their helmets
bounce like bobble-head dolls, all to the delight of their
proud beaming mothers and fathers. It's at this stage
that future athletes flourish under the guidance of a
patient and wise coach.
It's moments like these that parents often cherish most
because it's also at this point the kids say and do the
"cutest" things. Games are played with a cadre of
coaches on the field within arms reach and boo-boo's
often go away by the time little Johnnie is cradled and
carried to the side line.
Yes, these are the future " Good Old Days "

2011 Coming Into Their Own
Winning is a wonderful thing. A lot of hard work and effort goes into accomplishing that goal. Yet there are many other
achievements and victories along the way. If a coach can help develop or even enhance the life lessons which a young athlete
learns, he has done a good thing. If he can build confidence and persistence under pressure in a young athlete, the young man
will benefit immensely.
We watched two teams receive a great lesson in this over the weekend. The varsity Teaneck Junior Football Program hosted
Paterson’s Mustangs at Teaneck High School. Both teams really showed up to play and this proved especially true as the game
wore on. It was amazing to see that by the second half both teams were becoming more confident with each play. In the 3rd
quarter Paterson when turned up the intensity Teaneck quickly matched them and then cranked their level of play to pass
Paterson’s. This back and forth struggle continued on until the last moments. Confirmation of the matched intensity was
ultimately seen in the final score, 21-21.
Unfortunately league rules do not allow for overtime, though both teams were certainly primed to push onto victory. They each
earned a tie on their season record, something which could come back to help or hurt them depending on how the rest of the
season shakes out. Regardless, of how things pan out, there’s one thing that we know for sure. Both teams may have started this
game a little unsure to one degree or another of themselves and their abilities but they both certainly left the game more confident
and sure of who they were. No doubt about it something happened to these teams during the span of those four quarters,
something which does not bode well for future opponents: They came into their own!
