Not To Be Out Done
We certainly don't want to overlook the action which took place down in queens
last weekend at Bayside. They also had their homecoming with burgers and
franks which smelled every bit as good as those cooked on the grills at Kipp NYC
in the Bronx. More importantly the Commodores entered the match up 6-0 and
played solid pigskin on offensive and defense against Jamaica.
Jamaica definitely gave it every best effort that they had but Bayside's engines
were cranking on all cylinders. But as we mentioned earlier this week Jamaica is
the same team who last year had grit to play a quadruple over time squeaker
against Columbus. And while Bayside dominated, the cougars had their
moments when last years gutsiness came through.
So, though they took it on the chin collectively there were brief moments when
they gave as good as they got on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately for them,
none of their efforts manifested on the score board. Game Shots Have Been

Let There be no doubt about it, the Sheepshead Bay Sharks
are a toothy bunch who've been playing the kind of winning ball
that won them a City Championship back in 2004 . Swift,
sleek, confident and capable. That's certainly the way they
stepped onto the gridiron last week when they battled Fort
Hamilton in an elimination match with the winner advancing to
the next stage. All of the faithful tiger fans were present and
accounted for in effervescent fashion. The air was thick with
championship intentions and both teams went about handling
their business accordingly. Ft- Hamilton, who is down a few key
players entered the locker room feeling the bite which the
Sharks were putting on them. Yet the Tigers, who were last
years city champs roused themselves and came back to go
blow for blow with the Bay. After having tasted the fruit of a
championship they proved that they were ready for another bite
at the apple because they pulled out a victory when the smoke
cleared. Game shots have been posted
SHARKS AND TIGERS
Things continue to shake down inside the PSAL. One team who had a
meteoric rise this season is the Flushing Red Devils, who we got a
chance to cover earlier this season. Since a winning season not only
builds confidence but it also draws talent it seems the Red Devils may
have laid a solid foundation for the future. It seems the Boyz brought a
bigger stick to this battle and used it to fend off the queens natives.
The Kangaroos have proved themselves a force to be reckoned with, especially for the last few seasons. Last year they were knocked out
of playoff contention in the later rounds by Tottenville. Who knows, by the way things are shaping up they may get a chance to beat the
Pirates en route to a championship bid

The showdown in Queens between the PSAL's
August Martin and William Grady was a real pad
banger. After a long and arduous season four
teams were left to contend for the city's cup title.
Proving why the both had the right to be in
contention both teams pressed for the lead.
Clearly, after a season full of stubborn
opponents both battle tested teams certainly
possess the capability of snatching a win from
the jaws of defeat.
Both clubs have a recent enough history of
appearances in title games August Martin had a
bowl appearance in 2009 While Grady won the
Cup in 2005
Ultimately in this match up though August
Martin held sway over the Brooklynites , This
win entitles them to appear on Sunday for the
2011 City Cup,
