Girls Football Page !!!
On March 3rd and 4th, 2007 girls football literally took a "Giant" step in the right direction !
Thanks to the generosity of the N.F.L. , The New York Giants, Dominos Pizza and others
the first ever clinic for girls was coached by The National Champion New York Sharks Women's Tackle
football team.
The days were a great success and all had a great time. Young athletes attended from as far away as Maine.
At the start of the two day clinic a good number of the girls were strangers to one another. However by the
end of the first day they were like old pals laughing, cheering and celebrating touchdowns together ! By
Sunday afternoon the ladies were clearly reluctant to leave their new found friends. Many were seen
swapping phone numbers and email addresses.
To be sure this transformation was no accident.
Guided under the skilled and watchful eye of coach Debra Vance as well as her staff the young athletes got
a pleasant course not only in the basics of football but also in team work, respect, pride and responsibility.
So the end result of melding the 100 or so girls into a cohesive "Team" was an expected one.
However, what was truly amazing was that the coaches were able to do so in such a remarkably short time !
To be sure, we hope this is just a beginning of more great things to come for girls football.
In fact we're going to use this opportunity to launch our Girls Football Section which will now be a permanent
part of FOOTBALLSHOOTERS.COM !

FINALLY, A SITE DEDICATED TO FOOTBALL PHOTOGRAPHY !!!!
Got Football???? Most boys have to answer no to that question but about 150 girls who signed up for the
recent Girls only JPD camp at Giants stadium girls can answer with a loud yes. The NFL and The New
York Giants sponsored the second annual girls only JPD football clinic. The camp was run by the
women of The New York Sharks.
Once again, we clap our hands in a show of appreciation to Coach Debra Vance . Last season she
molded the girls into functional teams within two days. This year, mother nature upped the ante on Coach
Vance. Since Fridays snow storm dumped so much snow in the area Saturdays camp had to be
cancelled, So coach Vance only had one day, Sunday, to work with the girls.
True to their nature, Coach Vance and her staff of Sharks pulled victory out of the jaws of defeat by
accomplishing their goals in half of the time as last year's camp.
Before the day was over the young ladies who attended the camp were scoring touchdowns, intercepting
passes and throwing up high fives all around.
If you intended to participate in the camp, you missed a great one....
But there's always next year.
EVENT PHOTOS ARE NOW POSTED !!I
Visiting The Twins
Anyone who has been following events within girls football knows that last year the
NFL and the New York Giants hosted the first ever two day all girls JPD mini camp at
Giants stadium. As we reported the event was a great success on many fronts. Not
only did the participants learn some great fundamentals and have a great time but
they also made quite a few new friends.
It was at that camp that we met the, "Twins."
Oddly enough it took us the better part of the first day to realize that there were two of
them! The Goldsack twins, Paige and Jenna were on the stadium turf playing to the
fullest. A few weeks later we learned that the twins played on the freshman team at
Rutherford high school in New Jersey. Earlier this season they were featured in the
Bergen Record.
On Saturday we were able to venture
out into the cool fall morning so as to
give them and their team mates a
little photographic coverage, those
shots will be posted soon in their own
photo gallery.
As for the twins we're glad to report
that they're right there in the
trenches holding their own.
Though we weren't able to cover
the whole game we could see the
girls grinding things out on the
o-line, kick off as well as the punt
team.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to
confirm the correct spelling of her
name so we'll report that as soon as
we get it.
No doubt the girls are enjoying their
season which is just about half way
over.
Their father confirms for us that the
girls will be in attendance at the next
All-girls JPD mini camp. Who knows,
maybe they'll be the camp attending
with a few of their female
classmates!

We'd also like to report that in addition to Jenna and Paige the team also
has a third female player.
