STILL THERE !!!
There are the various cheer squads who have been
working hard to support their teams from the season's
beginning and who continue to lead the crowds even
as temps start to dip.
The recent game between Don Bosco and Teaneck is
a good example of this.
Chilly night temps didn't hinder either squad as they
performed in support of their teams. The same can be
said of the cheerleaders throughout the PSAL.
Keep up the good work!

Few people know just how much work cheerleaders, put into doing what they do. Many cheer squads work out
surprisingly hard to build the kind of strength and stamina it takes to get through a whole football season. After all, just
like the players, they're participating in a sport which carries them from the hottest heat of august practice to the early
snows of a winter championship game. There's no doubt that they need to be in shape to do all of the twirling, jumping,
cheering and lifting.
So the next time you see cheerleaders,Twirlers or boosters performing for the crowd give them an extra round of
applause !
But that wasn't the only clapping going on at
this game. The cheerleaders were having a
contest of their own. Loud and rhythmic
voices rose from the sidelines as the cheer
squads "represented" their respective teams.
It was very entertaining to see the ladies
trade cheers with each other.

What came to mind was what one of the Twirler captains said to us
during an August interview. When asked about why the squad was
imposing two weeks of grueling training in the hot sun on itself one of the
seniors let us know that it was to ensure that the team was ready for the
rigors of the season.
(see article below)
She let us know that nothing was more important to the Twirlers than the
support of the football team. Every thing they do is geared towards
helping them to encourage the football team. She added, "It's about
being there for them, it's about support"
So it was our pleasure to see a sizeable entourage of Twirlers at the
scrimmage to support the football team, something which is rarely,if ever,
done.
Way to go ladies. Keep up the great work!

Aside from the game itself the recent match between Abe Lincoln and Midwood was nothing short
of a party on the sidelines. Lincoln's field was lit up by it's new lights and both cheer squads were
bursting with energy to lead fans in showing support. The cool night air was thumping with the
sounds of DJ Riddim Vybz. No mater who fans were cheering for they were well entertained by
both squads ! Shots are now posted
