Saturday’s game at Sid Luckman field between Erasmus and Tottenville could have been seen as a grudge
match, at least from the perspective of the Dutchmen. Erasmus in recent years has had gobs of talent and
the real potential to take a championship. In 2009, at Sid Luckman field, Tottenville closed the curtain on
E-Hall’s meteoric rise. This was probably something that played in the back of the minds of the Dutchmen
as they took the field at high noon. Tottenville who plays its own unique brand of intense football is definitely
expected to be in the thick of things this season and has shown it on the field where it counts. The Staten
Islanders entered the game with a 3-0 record and were looking to put another notch in their belt. This game
was no different than any inner city gridiron battle where teams claw for every inch. It was a game where
nimble footed linebackers moved cross field with gazelle like agility just to deliver a full payload to ball carriers
at the end of the chase.

And when the smoke cleared Erasmus proved to be the victor of this battle,14-13, handing The Pirates their first loss of the season.
We suspect these teams will have a bad taste for each other for the foreseeable future. Erasmus likely won’t forget the recent past and
Tottenville certainly won’t either. This is the stuff that creates great team rivalries. The way things look E-Hall, with it’s cadre of talented

2006-2007 season, took the City wide title in 1997 and 2003 respectively, has a penchant for playing the kind of solid football that it
