Thomas Jefferson high school has never been a team to take lightly. Even " back in the day " they were amongst the
teams which were a force to be reckoned with. From our perspective in the 70's they were an iconic team which played in
the land of the giants. Fast forward to 2011 and it's easy to see that a lot of things haven't changed.
Sure only a some of the current players reach the gargantuan size of their predecessors but the ferocious ball play is
every bit as intense,if not higher. Saturday's match up against Grand Street, could be viewed as a warning to future
opponents who stand in the way of their current championship bid. This is no prognostication but foolish is any future
opponent who takes The Orange Wave lightly because of their current 3 and 6 record. We embedded ourselves among
the wave during this game could immediately that the current core of orangemen still have a penchant for pad popping
pads. Seems like they may be on the upswing of things but only time will tell. We know that they've got some of the
fastest ball haulers we've seen this season in New York or New Jersey. They're certainly poised to play the kind of solid
ball which won them a 2009 NYC Bowl Title.
Who knows how the " Ball " is going to bounce. Amongst other factors, it might just be a question of timing.
After all it could be a perfect time to Peak in the PSAL.
SHOTS HAVE BEEN POSTED
Sometimes we think the points which sit the ends of a foot-
ball exist merely to represent just how hard it is to predict
which teams will dominate in any given season. You can
never quite tell how a bounced football will bounce and
likewise you can never absolutely guarantee which teams
will dominate inside the PSAL.
One look at how things are shaking out this season
confirms the point. While some teams which were expected
to rule have fallen off, others have risen to the challenge.
Others are still rising, for now anyway. Saturday's match up
between Thomas Jefferson and Grand Street Campus
epitomizes a lot of the heavy hitting going on in the league
as things head into the post season.
Grand Street is a team who has continued to build their level of their play over the years. The Wolves coaches have
solidly built the pack into a team which is one to be respected. Understanding that good attributes often follow a team
from year to year, we remember the tenacity they showed in last year's game against Boys high, one of the hardest
hitting games of the season. From all that we saw, the Wolf pack showed up with that same mindset However it was
simply a day that Jefferson had more juice than Grand Street could handle.
